Hi, I’m Fox.

About Me

I’m Joshua Fox, a Queens-born photographer, filmmaker, educator, and the founder of ShotsByAFox.

My connection to storytelling started long before ShotsByAFox became a brand. Growing up in New York City, I became fascinated with the way photography and film could preserve moments, tell stories, and give people a chance to see the world through someone else’s perspective. That passion eventually led me to earn my degree in Communications with a focus in Media Production from SUNY Buffalo State and build a career working across photography, filmmaking, live events, sports, and education.

I created ShotsByAFox in 2017 as a space for my photography and filmmaking, but my vision for it has grown into something much bigger.

My work has taken me from basketball courts and classrooms to concerts, fashion shows, studios, community events, and productions. I've photographed and created content around athletes, couples, artists, brands, schools, and everyday people with stories worth documenting. My experience includes projects and events involving LL Cool J, Dave East, Dexta Daps,Benny The Butcher , Westside Gunn, Runway 7 during New York Fashion Week, collegiate athletics, and numerous community and private events throughout New York City.

But some of the work I value most happens behind the camera with young people.

For five years, I worked as a film and media educator, teaching students from elementary through middle school how to tell their own stories through photography, filmmaking, animation, advertising, documentary production, and visual media. Seeing students go from having little experience with a camera to creating films of their own changed the way I looked at my purpose as a creative.

It showed me that visual storytelling isn't only a profession.

It's a skill that can give someone a voice.

That belief has become a major part of the future of ShotsByAFox.

Today, I’m continuing to build the brand around three things: storytelling, sports, and community. Whether I'm documenting an athlete's journey, creating a cinematic piece for a brand, photographing an important life moment, or teaching the next generation of filmmakers, I want the work to feel authentic and meaningful.

My long-term vision is to grow ShotsByAFox into a multimedia company that produces photography, films, documentaries, sports content, commercial work, and educational programs while creating opportunities for other creatives along the way.

I don't just want to take pictures.

I want to build an archive of people, places, moments, and stories that mattered.

This is the world according to Fox.
